This file is a New Zealand Geographic copy and crop of a photograph held at the University of Otago, Library, Hocken Collections, [2] and [3], where it is labeled "1897?". The Hocken Library requires that permission must be obtained before any re-use of this image, but as the image dates to 1897 without a known author, it is clearly in the public domain.
