Биография[править]

Родилась в Питтсбурге, США как Мэри Эйкен Грэйвер (Mary Aiken Graver). Выросла в Манхэттэне. Окончила Школу Спенса (the Spence School). В качестве добровольного курьера the Frontier Nursing Service в штате Кентукки совершала длительные поездки верхом на лошади по сельской и гористой местности. Прошла подготовку наездника в лучших школах верховой езды Англии и США. В престижной конной школе Boots and Saddles Club в Нью-Йорке познакомилась с её совладельцем и своим будущим мужем В. С. Литтауэром — лучшим конным инструктором США XX века.
