Неокосмос, Майкл
Майкл Неокосмос (англ. Michael Neocosmos) — южноафриканский марксистский политический теоретик. Почётный профессор гуманитарных наук Университета Родса, выдающийся приглашённый исследователь Гуманитарного института Университета Коннектикута и научный сотрудник Центра гуманитарных исследований Университета Западно-Капской провинции[1].
Биография[править]
Неокосмос получил степень бакалавра наук в Университете Лафборо (Великобритания, 1972 год), степень магистра искусств в Уай-колледже Лондонского университета (Великобритания, 1973 год) и степень доктора философии в Брэдфордском университете (Великобритания, 1982 год).
Преподавал в различных университетах Великобритании и Африки. В частности, работал в Университете Дар-эс-Салама (Танзания), Университете Свазиленда, Национальном университете Лесото (где возглавлял кафедру исследований развития), Университете Ботсваны (в должности доцента социологии), Университете Претории (в должности профессора социологии), Университете Монаша (в качестве директора по исследованиям глобальных движений) и в Университете Родса в Грейамстауне (ЮАР), где занимал пост директора Гуманитарного подразделения (UHURU).
Награды[править]
В 2017 году книга Неокосмоса Thinking Freedom in Africa была удостоена премии Франца Фанона за выдающуюся книгу по карибской мысли (англ. The Frantz Fanon Award for Outstanding Book in Caribbean Thought), присуждаемой Карибской философской ассоциацией.
