Ори Амитай (англ. Ory Amitay, ивр. אורי אמיתי) — израильский историк.

Биография

Получил степени бакалавра и магистра по общей истории в Тель-Авивском университете, и докторскую степень по древней истории и средиземноморской археологии в Университете Беркли.

Работает на кафедре всеобщей истории Хайфского университета.

Области исследований: греко-иудейские и иудейско-римские отношения, эволюция монотеизма и т. д.

По крайней мере в двух статьях затронул тему Спарта и евреи. Отвергая господствующую радикальную оценку о подложности еврейско-спартанской переписки, он пытается однако, не акцентировать внимание на факте родства спартанцев и евреев, а искать рациональные причины переписки, полагая, что Спарта нуждалась в еврейских солдатах. Высказывает любопытную мысль о связи раввинов Бен-Лакония и рода Эвриклиды.
