Viktor Valérievich Pinchúk (born June 14, 1969, Simferopol, USSR) — Russian traveler, publicist, photographer; in the past — a freelance correspondent of the now defunct newspaper «Republic of Crimea»; creative direction — travel journalism with elements of extreme.
Biography, highlights[править]
Born in the city of Simferopol, in a family of employees. At the beginning of the 2000s, led the column «Returning from distant wanderings» in newspaper «Republic of Crimea», simultaneously publishing in the socio-political weeklys «Krymskoe Vremya» (Crimean time), «Respublika» (Republic), «Yuzhnaya Stolitsa» (South Capital), «Krymskiy obozrevatel» (Crimean observer). Thrice awarded with a diploma for participation in the KrymBookFest (Crimean Literary Festival).
Starting with a two-week trip to Ethiopia, gradually brought the duration of his stay in foreign lands to six months, visiting ten and more countries for one time. Practicing hobo tours, backpacking and methods of independent tourism, he traveled dozens of exotic countries, choosing for the route the regions where foreigners rarely set foot, spending the night in cemeteries, construction sites, in abandoned houses, in the rainforest and other non-standard places. Featured in the press as «international tramp».
In one of solo expeditions, which included a visit to Afghanistan, during the standard document check, he was detained and sent to a Kabul prison. Three years later, in Namibia, by chance, was carried away by the current to the uninhabited territory of a neighboring country, where a day later found by one of the aborigines and rescued. In 2018, a few hours before flying home from a six-month trip to African countries, as a result of a robbery in Johannesburg, he was lost all the footage filmed.
