Фредерик Йелинек — американский учёный в области теории вычислительных систем, один из пионеров обработки естественного языка и автоматического распознавания речи[1].

Карьера[править]

Его отец был евреем (погиб в в концлагере Терезиенштадт); а мать родилась в Швейцарии в чешской католической семье и приняла иудаизм.

Изучал инженерию на вечерних занятиях в Городском колледже Нью-Йорка.

В 1962 г. получил докторскую степень в МТИ.

В 1959—1962 гг. преподавал в МТИ.

В 1962 г. преподавал в Гарварде.

В 1962—1974 гг. преподавал в Корнеллском университете.

До 1993 г. трудился в исследовательском центре IBM им. Т. Уотсона, где он занимался разработкой применения цепей Маркова для распознавания речи.

С 1993 г. — профессор в университете Дж. Хопкинса.

Со своей супругой Миленой имел сына и дочь.
