Винокурня Combier - самая старая из действующих в долине Луары. Основанная в 1834 году, она с тех пор стоит на том же участке в самом центре Сомюра.

1834 г: знаменитый ликер впервые был приготовлен в единственном перегонном кубе в задней части магазина, открытого в 1834 году кондитером Жаном-Батистом Комбье и его женой Жозефиной Дестре.

Distillerie Combier начала перегонку абсента в 1899 году, но производство было внезапно прекращено в 1915 году, когда оно стало незаконным.

1920: Royal Combier, созданный в 1920 году, представляет собой продуманную смесь L'Original Combier, Elixir Combier и коньяка премиум-класса. Невероятно современный для своего времени ликер прекрасно гармонировал с праздничной атмосферой бурных двадцатых годов.

В 2004 году, решив возродить традиционный абсент, Франк Шойн намеревался получить поправку к указу 1988 года, запрещающую использование фенхеля в рецепте и запрещающую маркировку напитка как абсент.^[1]
