Этот список родов акантод представляет собой попытку составить полный перечень всех родов, которые когда-либо относились к подклассу Acanthodii. В список включены все общепринятые роды, а также роды, которые в настоящее время считаются недействительными, сомнительными (nomina dubia) или не были официально опубликованы (nomina nuda), а также младшие синонимы более устоявшихся названий и роды, которые больше не считаются акантодам. Не считая их потомков, современных Хрящевых рыб, все акантоды вымерли. Вымершие роды отмечены знаком dagger (†)

Правила именования и терминология[править]

Правила наименования и терминология соответствуют Международному кодексу зоологической номенклатуры.

Используются следующие технические термины:

Младший синоним: название, описывающее тот же таксон, что и ранее опубликованное название. Если два или более рода официально обозначены, а типовые образцы позже отнесены к одному роду, то первым опубликованным (в хронологическом порядке) названием будет старший синоним, а все остальные — младшие синонимы. Обычно используются старшие синонимы, за исключением случаев, когда это предписано специальным решением Международного кодекса зоологической номенклатуры, но младшие синонимы не могут использоваться повторно, даже если они устарели. Младший синоним часто является субъективным понятием, за исключением случаев, когда оба описанных рода основаны на одном и том же типовом образце.

Nomen nudum (лат. «голое имя»): имя, которое было упомянуто в печати, но еще не было официально опубликовано в соответствии со стандартами Международного кодекса зоологической номенклатуры. Nomina nuda (множественное число) являются недействительными и поэтому не выделяются курсивом, как это было бы в случае с правильным родовым названием. Если имя впоследствии будет официально опубликовано, оно перестанет быть nomen nudum и будет выделено курсивом в этом списке. Часто официально опубликованное название отличается от любых nomina nuda, описывающих тот же экземпляр.

Nomen oblitum (лат. «забытое имя»): название, которое не использовалось в научном сообществе более пятидесяти лет после его первоначального предложения.
