Дэвид Дин Шульман (англ. David Dean Shulman, ивр. דוד שולמן) — израильский учёный, профессор кафедры индийских и армянских исследований в Еврейском университете в Иерусалиме[1].

Биография[править]

Родился 13 января 1949 года в Ватерлоо, штат Айова. Гражданин США[2].

В 1967 году репатриировался в Израиль.

Изучал историю ислама, арабского языка и литературы в Еврейском университете, и в 1971 году получил степень бакалавра. Затем учился в докторантуре по тамильской литературе в Школе восточных и африканских исследований при Лондонском университете, и в 1976 году получил докторскую степень.

С 1976 года преподаёт в Еврейском университете, с 1985 года — профессор.

Служил в Армии Обороны Израиля и участвовал в Первой ливанской войне в 1982 году.

В 1988 году был избран членом АН Израиля. С 2015 года член Американского философского общества[2].

В 2016 году стал лауреатом Премии Израиля.

Один из основателей леворадикальной организации «Тааюш».

Знает иврит, английский, санскрит, хинди, тамильский, телугу, греческий, русский, французский, немецкий, персидский, арабский и малаялам.

Женат на Эйлин (урожденная Лендман) и имеет трех сыновей, Эвиатар, Мишаэля и Эдана.
