Семья[править]

Родители Беста — Генри Бест и Маргарет Джейн Бест (урождённая Ирвайн). Его отец работал акцизным чиновником в Пейсли (Шотландия) на момент рождения Ричарда.

В 1906 году Ричард Бест женился на Эдит Бест (урождённой Олдем), которая была старше его на семь лет[1]. Эдит была младшей сестрой Чарльза Хьюберта Олдема, который впоследствии стал профессором экономики в Университетском колледже Дублина. Карьера после выхода на пенсию[править]

После выхода на пенсию из Национальной библиотеки Бест стал старшим профессором в Дублинском институте перспективных исследований (DIAS). Бест ушёл из DIAS в 1947 году в возрасте семидесяти пяти лет.
